THE CAMP EXPERIENCE

For the first time, kids are invited to spend a week deepening their connection with nature, their own abilities, and the timeless skills humans have relied on for generations.

This program is designed to give kids a taste of many foundational skills—from developing nature awareness to archery and crafting useful items by hand. Campers will explore practical skills while building confidence, curiosity, and respect for the natural world.

The camp is open to children entering 2nd–12th grade. This wide age range is intentional and allows campers to learn one of the most important survival skills of all: how to work together as a community. While many TV shows glamorize surviving alone, the truth is that connection and cooperation are what truly build resilience.

While survival skills and bushcraft are exciting to learn, this camp emphasizes reverence and appreciation for the natural world and all that it provides for us. â€‹â€‹

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Throughout the week campers will participate in an array of outdoor bushcraft & survival skill activities. They will also have the opportunity to participate in other camp activities such as archery, horseback riding and an additional group activity decided by the campers.

Campers will participate in a micro-tanning experience, where they will learn to prepare and tan a small mouse hide. There will not be any slaughtering of animals during camp; however, previously prepared animal materials may be used for educational crafts.

IS THIS PROGRAM RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?

Before choosing this program for your child, ask yourself the following questions:

- Does your child show interest in survival skills or learning hands-on skills?

- Are they ready to learn knife and fire safety in a supervised environment?

- Are they willing to try new things and step outside their comfort zone?

ACTIVITY INSTRUCTORS

TESTIMONIALS

As a career educator, I have been so impressed with the quality of programs offered at Colorado Mountain Ranch. The boys came home full of joy, wonder, music and friendship last summer. I couldn’t have asked for a greater blessing. They are still talking about their amazing experiences with you last year, singing your campfire songs and generally glowing with love for your program. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
