THE CAMP DAY

Mountaineers have the chance to participate in special adventures designed especially for these older campers by Outdoor Specialists. They also choose from our whole array of camp activities. Activity times of 1 hour and 10 minutes can be combined to allow for a more in-depth experience for each camper. Mountaineers have the time to really get into their nature and team experiences. They  focus on Outdoor Living Skills (OLS) and bush crafts. Areas of adventure include archery, shelter building, whittling, weather, gear preparation for backcountry outings. They also learn about safety, Wilderness First Aid, and survival.

EXCURSIONS

Each week includes a half-day or full-day excursion open only to Mountaineers to explore the local mountains with peers and play in streams or lakes. Excursions in July and August feature high-country Indian Peak Wilderness hiking options.

GROUP COUNSELORS

Each group has its own experienced adult counselor familiar with age-specific guidance and group dynamics, who is always with the group, working closely with each child, guiding, supervising, participating, and assisting the Outdoor Specialist and other Activity Instructors.

“BUS PODS”

Camper groups of 8-12 will ride on their bus with another group or groups close in grade level. These campers form a "Bus Pod".

ACTIVITY AREAS

Activities are spread out around Main Camp and separated by a 1–5 minute walk on trails through meadows and forest.  Equipment is regularly checked for safety, sanitized between groups, and supply inventories are continually restocked.

ACTIVITY INSTRUCTORS

The Mountaineers Program has its own Outdoor Specialist Director. Every other activity has its own specialized instructor or team of instructors who present safe, supervised, and progressive instruction in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

CAMP SPIRIT

Parents who went to camp as children may recognize the Colorado Mountain Ranch as a traditional summer camp community with the same spirit and many of the same activities they remember. Camp is always an adventure!

OTHER ACTIVITIES

In addition to Outdoor Skills and other nature-related activities, Mountaineers get a chance to choose to try

some of their favorite other camp activities.

TESTIMONIALS

“We now know what a truly wonderful camp we have in our very own backyard! My daughter loved your camp and is looking forward to more mountainboarding this summer! When I came up to visit on the last day of camp, I was astonished at the beautiful setting, the expansive area, the deep charming character of your camp! Thanks again, we are truly honored to spend time there.”
